Last weekend was E-Life and
I AI ANIME events.I decided to make Princess Emeraude costume for the
E-Life Comic Book Battle cosplay contest. I managed to finish my costume in a span of one week!! AAA
;A; I give myself a pat on the shoulder for a job done good. This is my
first time to ever make a full gown/dress! You have no idea how cranky I
got while making the dress. There were a lot of mistakes that I have
to re-do over and over. Frankly I am not fully satisfied with the
outcome, so I am most likely to re-vamp it in the future.
The
wig, well, it almost got me stressed because the hairspray I was using
won't cooperate (in other words, won't dry and harden) and the bangs
kept falling. I finished styling the bangs just a few hours before the
event. It was holding up well for the first two hours, then started to
sag down later on. I have no qualms, because it still gave the effect I
wanted. And making the tiara and brooch accessories were sweet. I made
them in one day. I really have no full reference on what the brooch
looks like so I sort of improvised on some of the details. I love them
to bits!
E-Life Comic Book Battle
July 10, 2010
Eton Cyberpod Corinthian
I was somehow surprised when I arrived at the venue. It was... small.
But the program was lively despite the lack of crowd activity. The
auction was nice, too bad I couldn't participate. The only comfort room in the building is at
the basement, where a Magic the Gathering
tournament was happening -- in which my Hunny had joined. So Winter Doll and I have to get
dressed there. By the time we were done dressing up, there
was a lot of crowd build up outside. There were so many... err... men!
HA HA! Of course, there were the usual comments of surprise and others
thinking I was in a wedding dress hehe, which sure does look like it ;P
And that Winter as Sunako may be a witch.
We got back to
the venue and the cosplay contest is just about to start but it gave a
good time to look at the rest of the cosplayers. I suddenly felt ridiculous for a moment with what I am wearing. All other cosplayers were male and wore mecha costumes! Well, majority of them were! But after a long while, it made me feel special -- I am the only girl, dressed as a Princess! That should make me their "princess"! Ha ha woohooo I got me lots of Rune Knights!
Zire was there too! Cosplaying as Chibi Gundam something something -- sorry I am bad with mechas!
I was second to the last to do the catwalk and I know made such a silly skit of waltzing and pretending to be cute and princess-y. I honestly did not know what to do!
I AI ANIME
Megatrade Hall, Megamall
We crossed the street from Eton building to Robinson's Galleria in
order to get a cab going to Megamall in full costume -- me as Princess
Emeraude, and Winter Doll as Sunako. All the people went staring with surprise.
Even the cars had to slow down and stop to let us pass. It is like they
are in pain to see us cross in such outlandish outfits. Well, now, that
is something you don't see everyday! The scene at Megamall was pretty
much the same.
I overheard a mom telling her kid to look at me and said, "Look, it's Barbie."
I
had almost difficulty riding the escalator for fear of having some of
my dress getting stuck in it so I had to hold all the skirt way up to
make sure none does. That would be a terrible thing to happen! To get
eaten by an escalator. DX
We only stayed for about an hour during the I AI ANIME. Winter and I had our own photo session before we changed back into our
normal selves. It was fun doing poses, serious and comical ones. I love
most with our cosplay is the contrast of our characters: Princess Emeraude and Sunako. Light/soft/good and Dark/edgy/evil. It was a perfect pair!
Here are some of my favorite photos. There's more in my
Facebook gallery so check them out!
And that concludes my unforgettable one of a kind cosplay experience! I will be attending the E-Life Video Game Face-Off as Alice on the 24th. Anyone attending?
